Queen Mother was the very first freehand painting that I shared on social media. I began painting when I was a small child but I was always terrified to showcase anything I made because I lacked self-confidence. But this piece spoke so heavily to me as an illustration of how valuable Black femmes are to the universe in every way. We bring style, knowledge, expertise, sensible decision-making, objective critique, beauty, and grace. We are everything the world is and we are a radical paradox that the world still hasn’t accepted.
